Qualcomm to launch AI-focused Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 in October: Details here

 The announcement of Qualcomm's next-generation flagship smartphone system-on-a-chip (SoC), the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4, is scheduled for October, according to the American semiconductor company. Senior Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer of Qualcomm, Don McGuire, stated in a video posted by the firm on social networking platform X (previously Twitter) that the company will unveil the next generation shipset at the October Qualcomm summit.

McGuire revealed that the company's most recent central processor unit, the Oryon, will power the next Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 in addition to the launch date. The company's PC-specific Snapdragon X Elite platform is likewise powered by the Oryon CPU. To enhance on-device AI capabilities, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 CPU will also receive an enhanced neural processing unit (NPU). Qualcomm unveiled its expansive multimodal AI model for Android phones, driven by its Snapdragon platform, at this week's Mobile World Congress (MWC). The business demonstrated Large Language and Vision Assistant (LLaVA) on an Android smartphone. LLaVA is a 7+ billion parameter large multimodal model (LMM) that can accept numerous sorts of data inputs.According to Qualcomm, the model operates on-device and is multimodal for improved cost, privacy, dependability, and personalization. In addition to LLaVa, the US semiconductor company showcased Low Rank Adaptation (LoRA) with Stable Diffusion on an Android mobile device. The business claims that LoRA would enable consumers to produce excellent personalized photographs directly on the smartphone.
